The Provincial Veterinary Office in Misamis Oriental and the Department of Agriculture declared the region as African Swine Fever-free as they resume the hog dispersal program of the province.
Provincial veterinarian Dr. Benjamin Resma disclosed that an initial 2,000 pigs were distributed to farmers in eastern towns hit by the ASF last year, adding that the province will also set two swine breeding facilities in Opol and Balingasag towns to ensure steady supply of pigs in the province.
