Precious Paula Nicole wins Breakout Star award, other Pinoy drag queens nominated at the 2023 WOWIES

Drag queen and winner of the first season of Drag Race Philippines Precious Paula Nicole is declared a winner of the Breakout Star at the WOWIE Awards 2023, together with other awardees who are celebrities and contestants from different RuPaul’s Drag Race franchises — Admira Thunderpussy, Danny Beard, Drag Couenne, Giselle Lullaby, LA Diamond, Matt Rogers, Paloma, Spankie Jackzon and Stephanie Hsu.
The WOWIE Awards is organized by World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race, its international versions and other LGBTQ+ shows.
Also revealed are the nominees in other categories for the 2023 awards. Three other Drag Race Philippines contestants — Marina Summers, Eva Le Queen and Prince — were included.
Marina is nominated in the WOWlebrity on the Rise category for The Can’t Get You Out of My Head Award together with Anetra, Gemini Dai, Grant Vanderbilt, Kristen Kish, Lemon, Liam Krug and Rylie, while Eva is nominated in Best Beauty Guru category, vying against Abby Roberts, Bosco, Emira D’Spain, Gigi Gorgeous, Julie Vu, Silky Nutmeg Ganache and Sminty Drop for the Painted Award.

On the other hand, Prince and Drag Race Philippines host Paolo Ballesteros are nominated for the Best Viral Moment for their “The Shoes!!!” moment. They are up against Ariana DeBose, Big Feedia, Jennifer Coolidge, Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj, Krystal Versace, Rosalia and Terri Joe. Winner will take home the Internet Icon Award.
The WOWIE Awards recognize personalities and works in artistry, activism, innovation, pop culture and entertainment in the past year. Winners are determined by public voting. Fans can vote on the World of Wonder website. Votes can be cast in each category once a day.
Other categories include Best Dressed, Hottest Hottie, Biggest Drag Superfan, Best Book, Best Beauty Line, Best Comedian, Best Podcast, Best Ally, Fiercest Party People, Best New Artist, Best Television Appearance, Best Documentary, Worst Online Presence, Resistor of the Year, Best YouTube, Best Twitter, Best TikTok and Best Instagram.
Winners will be announced on 13 May in a live ceremony hosted by TS Madison, during the RuPaul’s DragCon Los Angeles, California. They will receive trophies shaped like Warhol soup cans. The event will also honor trailblazers and persons of inspiration who have departed.
