DOH regains Twitter account after getting rid of `bug’

A technical glitch late Saturday hampered the social media account of the Department of Health whose Twitter handle was changed to “Vela Exchange,” an app supposedly offering analytics and trading tools.

But the health department has since regained control over the account after just a “short period” of time.

“Please be informed that due to a technical glitch in Twitter, which was also experienced by some entities and organizations globally, the DOH’s official Twitter account was renamed to ‘Vela Exchange’ for a short period,” the DOH wrote on Twitter.

“The DOH has swiftly acted upon the matter. Hence, our official account has already been reverted to ‘Department of Health,’ and is now being closely monitored by our official platform managers,” it added.

DOH officials reiterated that their account was not hacked, but said the whole incident was caused by a bug.

“This is why we were able to immediately identify the bug. Rest assured that we will continue to monitor all our platforms,” it added.
