The National Capital Region Police Office on Sunday announced that it has recently launched the revitalized “Pulis sa Barangay” course at the NCRPO Hinirang Multi-Purpose Hall in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City as part of intensifying efforts to bring government services closer to the community in Metro Manila.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo stressed that the agency’s flagship program is a six-month immersion program where trained policemen will be deployed and live with the constituents of identified barangays in the National Capital Region to render community services, help residents avail government programs, and assist in providing other public services as may be deemed needed in the community.
The seven-day training aims to equip the 240 participants from the five police districts and Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the NCRPO with the knowledge, skills, and values required of a Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay operative, set as an emerging program to help Local Government Units to minimize service delivery gaps.
It will also seek to assist the barangay units in their implementation capacity and overall service delivery consistent with the PNP’s vision to ensure a safer place to live, work and do business in consonance with the Chief PNP’s Peace and Security Framework dubbed as the Malasakit, Kaayusan at Kapayapaan Tungo sa Kaunlaran.
“The R-PSB is a six months immersion program. You need to understand the functions of our partner national agencies to address the issues and concerns of the community to do community or government services leaving behind the usual peace and law enforcement functions. We are going out of our confined box to serve with our hearts,” Okubo said.
The NCRPO chief encouraged the participants to give their best service to the PNP and avoid being involved in any illegal activities.
“Let’s serve this organization with pride and loyalty,” he added.
