Do what’s right, Abalos tells vice mayors

Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr.

Department of the Interior and Local Governments Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. on Saturday gave importance to communications and proactive stance as the best practice for Vice Mayors to carry.

Abalos mentioned this at the 27th National Convention of Vice Mayors League of the Philippines in Pasay City over the weekend.

“You are the bridge between the executives and the constituents, as it is on your shoulders that you must really enact ordinances and laws that are very important not only for your constituency but likewise for the national welfare of our country,” Abalos said.

Abalos who is also former chief executive said he too have experienced some ‘deadlocks’ where he should choose what is right than what is popular.

He said he was all to happy to talk before the VMLP to share with them how an LGU could share in giving progress to the country.

Swearing VLMP officials

 Abalos swore in the new officials of  VLMP. including Dean Anthony Domalanta, as the national president; Bernard dela Cruz, national chairman; Raymond Alvin Garcia, executive vice president;
Almedzar Hajiri, national secretary-general; Maynard Francis Bumanglag, national treasurer; and Michael Galang, national auditor.
