Mighty Warriors, MBC post twin kills

Mighty Warriors and MBC teams scored separate victories in different divisions to advance to the semifinals of the United Basketball League recently at the Systems Plus Computer School in Caloocan City.

Gab Nepacena scored 14 points while drawing plenty of support from Kris Lagat and Luigi Lamanza, who tallied 11 and 10 markers, respectively, to lead the Mighty Warriors to a 76-40 win over Aspirants in the 18-under.

The Mighty Warriors made it a double celebration when Mark Buenaventura came up with a double-double performance of 11 points and 10 rebounds while Jacob Hizon and Ran Sharma conspired for 21 points to book a 71-58 win over Dauntless J in the 16-under category.

Also making it a twin kill were the squads of MBC in the under-18 and under-14 categories.

Mark Acol led the way with 16 points to power MBC to a convincing 53-39 triumph over Passion in the 14-under category.

MBC scored a repeat act over Passion, this time in the under-18 division, as Benjie Yao and Kyle Balba combined for 50 points in powering their squad to a 76-65 win.

Also advancing to the semifinal round were Paragon (under-19), Brotherhood (under-18), BBSD (under-15), SPCC (under-17), PLP Elites (under-18), Hustle DMC (under-21), and Manila Braves (under-13).
