It was Friday the 13th in January when I got an invite from the birthday girl, Kai Lim. With no intention whatsoever to throw a party, she planned and executed a wonderful evening with friends and family in only five days. She put together the best team to do the job seamlessly — event stylist extraordinaire Kaye Garcia; savvy event organizer Party Starters;
ever-so reliable catering by Kai Greenbelt; well curated wine selection from Cork; and fun tunes by DJ Kat de Jesus.

On the 17th of January, come party time, I was first to arrive together with my date, Trisha Bermudez-Calma. We arrived at least 40 minutes before everyone else trickled in. LOL! I know, I know! There’s no way to hide that I’m a bona fide Tita! We found ourselves welcoming the guests as they arrived. But as time went by, our focus shifted to our tummies as we both excitedly anticipated the buffet to officially open. At this point, we have probably consumed a few glasses of Aperol Spritz, which seemed extra delicious that night.

From a party of two, the evening evolved into a full blown affair with the perfect vibe and energy where laughter, chatter, and an amazing DJ set filled up the home of Brian & Kai Lim. It was so much fun, but chill at the same time. A whole lot like our birthday girl. Before we knew it, we were all in our best mood from all the food and drinks we enjoyed while we caught up with friends we haven’t seen for long. What a great way to kick off the year with this celebration.
