Continuing his advocacy to improve the country’s health sector and establish more health facilities that would significantly benefit Filipinos, especially in the countryside, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go lauded the Department of Health and the local government of Labason, Zamboanga del Norte for the successful groundbreaking of the town’s Super Health Center on Tuesday, 14 March.
In his video message, Go expressed his optimism that more disadvantaged Filipinos will be able to access basic healthcare services through the Super Health Centers that will be strategically located particularly in rural communities.
The senator was instrumental in pushing the budget for the Labason Super Health Center and hundreds more of such centers nationwide. Through his initiative and with the support of his fellow lawmakers, some 307 SHCs were funded in 2022.
Go likewise committed his continued support for the establishment of more Super Health Centers in the country as he has likewise successfully pushed for additional funds for 322 more centers in the 2023 health budget.
The senator, meanwhile, visited the province of Rizal Wednesday, where he personally spearheaded a relief activity for fire victims from the towns of Taytay and Cainta.
The separate fire incidents affected over a hundred families and led to one casualty.
Addressing the victims, Go reassured that he remains dedicated to extending his unwavering support for the affected households and exerting his utmost efforts to make certain that no one is left behind towards recovery.
The senator is the principal author and co-sponsor of Republic Act 11589, otherwise known as the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021.
Under the Act, the bureau is currently undergoing a 10-year modernization program that includes the acquisition of modern fire equipment, recruitment of more firefighters, and provision of specialized training, among others.
