Bong Go commends Phl gov’t contingent sent to quake-hit Türkiye and Syria

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has co-sponsored Senate Resolution No. 535 commending the Philippine government contingent for their valor and acts of service in the rescue and recovery operations following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Türkiye and Syria on 6 February.

In his co-sponsorship speech on Wednesday, March 15, the senator praised the bravery, dedication, and determination of the 82 personnel sent by the government, comprising members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of Health, Office of Civil Defense, Metro Manila Development Authority, and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.

“Through their bravery, dedication, and determination, they were able to significantly contribute to the rescue and recovery operations, providing necessary aid and support to those affected by the earthquake,” said Go.

“Their acts of selflessness, sacrifice, and valor in service to humanity are worthy of praise and commendation,” he added.

The powerful earthquake measuring magnitude 7.8 struck south and central Türkiye, as well as north and western Syria on February 6. A second earthquake also occurred measuring magnitude 7.7.
