The local government of Manila announced on Tuesday that the Manila City Hall and other LGU-owned facilities will soon be digitalized after it has entered in an agreement with Korean companies for the installation of free wireless fidelity or WiFi routers.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna said that the Korean companies’ donation was contained in the memorandum of agreement and done in coordination with the electronic data processing department headed by Fortune Palileo and the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office under Arnel Angeles.

Lacuna disclosed that the Koreans will be installing the same kind of free WiFi in two colleges run by the city government — the Universidad de Manila and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod Maynila.

The lady mayor expressed gratitude to the Artbi Global Phil. Corp and Ifree Co. Ltd. which donated to the city 20 units of 4G WiFi routers which will be placed in city hall offices for faster transactions.

She added that the WiFi equipment is needed in the revenue-generating offices of the City Hall such as the permits bureau and the renewal section of the city treasurer’s office.

The six hospitals being run by the city will also be installed with the free WiFi, Lacuna said.
