Indigents in Iloilo, Laguna receive relief aid

Senator Bong Go

Struggling residents of Sta. Cruz, Laguna and Passi City, Iloilo received relief assistance from the Office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on 12 and 13 March, respectively.

In Laguna, Go and his team distributed food packs, masks, snacks, and vitamins to 500 indigent residents at DGP Compound in Barangay Calios. Select individuals were also provided with bicycles, pairs of shoes, cellular phones, watches, shirts, and balls for basketball and volleyball.

“The people of Laguna are close to me, as I am also a Batangueño. I am happy to help especially the poor,” Go said.

Meanwhile, recovering 1,355 typhoon victims in Passi City received support relief assistance such as grocery packs, vitamins, masks, snacks, and shirts at Passi 1 Central School Covered Court in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod.

“Don’t thank us, that’s our job. We should thank you because you gave us the opportunity to serve you,” Go told the recipients.

He advised the beneficiaries and their loved ones to visit any Malasakit Center in the province if they need medical aid.

There are now 156 Malasakit Centers nationwide that have assisted more than seven million Filipinos.

Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.

Meanwhile, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial assistance to each beneficiary.
