Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople on Tuesday urged world labor and migration counterparts to combat forms of illegal recruitment and human trafficking online — calling such cases a form of “modern slavery.”
Ople stressed that world leaders should intensify their efforts against online trafficking, including crypto-currency welfare cases in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar during her speech before global labor and migration officers during the Fifth Colombo Process’s Thematic Area Working Group Meeting on Pre-Departure Orientation and Employment, which the Philippines chaired before ten other member- countries.
“We shall gladly take on this challenge. We invite our colleagues present here today to join us in the fight against modern slavery,” Ople said.
