PBBM admits not finishing economics course

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday admitted that he did not finish his special diploma course in Economics at the University of Asia and Pacific.

He made the admission during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency and National Grid Corporation of the Philippines in Malacañang, where NGCP president and CEO Anthony Almeda also attended the event.

Marcos said he and Almeda were classmates in the same course and both of them didn’t finish.

“Anthony is known to me because we were classmates together. We were studying economics actually (at) Asia Pacific,” Marcos said.

“But pareho kaming hindi nagtapos (But we both didn’t finish). But I know him well and I’m happy that he has taken the lead in this,” he added.

Since the 2022 presidential campaign, Marcos’ educational background has been under scrutiny.

His Senate profile stated that he attended Wharton School of Business in 1979 to pursue a Master of Business Administration after earning a Special Diploma in Social Studies from Oxford University in England between 1975 and 1978.

According to a group of Filipino students and graduates of Oxford University, the President merely got a unique diploma, who claimed Marcos did not have a degree from the institution.

Marcos, however, claimed that he was able to earn his degree.
