Kyedae battling ‘Big C’
Popular streamer and content creator Kyedae “Kyedae” Shymko revealed that she is suffering from acute myeloid leukemia.
Kyedae, the fiance of Valorant professional player Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, broke the news, saying that she just laughed it off but will still do her best to make sure that “I don’t die.”
“I don’t really know what to talk about or say to be honest,” said Kyedae, who gained the support of fellow gamers and content creators, in a live stream.
“I will start chemotherapy very soon so I hope I don’t die. I am sorry, I am so bad at this. When I found out I have cancer I just laughed.”
She added that getting sad is the last thing on her mind.
“I apologize if I trigger any of you or make you feel uncomfortable because all I have been doing during this is just laughing,” she said.
“Let us be real here if I get sad and I am like, I have cancer, it is not going to just go away. It is just my way of coping.”
“There is not much I can say. Streams will probably get less regular considering chemo. I am sure a lot of you know what it does to your body. I already feel quite sick. I am trying my best to put on a normal face, but I have been dealing with a lot of health complications for a little while now.”
Also, Kyedae revealed that she initially kept her diagnosis from her fiancé, TenZ, who at the time was competing with Sentinels at VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: LOCK IN in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
“It has been pretty recent but I didn’t even tell anyone, not even my mom or my dad or Tyson (TenZ) after his tournament because I wanted to make sure he was fully focused on his game and his work before I broke the news,” Kyedae said.
“I did not want him to be in a different headspace. I know Tyson has been very strong and has been an amazing support pillar in all of this.”
