WAAP: Rianne ties for 13th

Rianne Malixi closed with a one-over-par 73 to finish in a tie for 13th spot at the close of the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific Championship at the Singapore Island Country Club in Singapore on Sunday.

The 16-year-old Filipina completed 72 holes on even-par 288, 14 shots behind runaway winner Eila Galitsky of Thailand.

Malixi started hot with two birdies in the first three holes but ran into trouble, picking up bogeys on 5, 11, 14 and 15. She birdied 18 to stop the bleeding.

Lois Kaye Go, on the other hand, wound up in a share of 32nd after a 75. She made only one birdie against two bogeys and a closing double bogey.

Galitsky collected five birdies against one bogey to shoot a 68 and complete a five-shot victory over Korean Kim Minsol who carded a 70.

Tied for third were Park Yeji, Sophie Han, Fiona Xu and Yuna Araki on 6-under.

Over in Thailand, Justin Quiban caught fire with seven birdies in a bogey-free round to close with a 65 and join compatriot Miguel Tabuena in a temporary share of 18th in the International Series Thailand at the Black Mountain Golf Club.

Tabuena carded a 70 as he and Quiban completed 72 holes on 14-under.

Saddled by a bogey on the second hole, Tabuena birdied three of the next six holes to reach the turn on 2-under. He birdied 10, bogeyed 12 before closing with six straight pars.
