TNT import ramps up game

As big man Poy Erram slowly recovers from injury, import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has been stepping up in his absence for TNT Tropang Giga, which is riding the crest of a six-game winning streak in the Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup.

With Hollis-Jefferson doing just about everything, averaging 30 points, grabbing 12.7 rebounds and dishing off seven assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks a game in three games, the Tropang Giga seem to be on getting the good breaks while waiting for Erram to resurface.

The 6-8 Erram has yet to see action this conference after undergoing a procedure aimed at addressing his perennial knee problems.

“The target for Poy is three weeks from today,” wrote TNT head coach and team manager Jojo Lastimosa.

TNT currently parades a league-leading 8-1 card and is scheduled to play NorthPort on Wednesday and Barangay Ginebra on Friday when the PBA returns to its normal schedule after the All-Star break.

Apart from his commitment to play for TNT, Erram has also missed the sixth and final window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Luckily, Hollis-Jefferson, who saw action for Brooklyn. Toronto and Portland in the NBA, is there to fill the void.
