OVP sends rice, relief goods to Caraga disaster victims

The Office of the Vice President’s Disaster Operations Center has sent hundreds of sacks of rice and boxes of relief goods to hundreds of families affected by floods and landslides in the Caraga region.

The OVP-DOC delivered some 200 sacks of rice to the towns of San Francisco, Bunawan and Esperanza in the province of Agusan del Sur on 1 March.

It also distributed 135 sacks of rice to 675 displaced families in Lianga town, 10 sacks of rice in Barobo and 15 sacks of rice in Lanuza, all in Surigao del Sur, on 2 March.

Sixty sacks of rice were sent to 300 displaced families in San Miguel, Surigao del Sur on 3 March while 50 sacks were handed over to Barangay San Vicente in Butuan City on 28 February.

On the same day, more than 100 boxes containing sleeping mats, blankets, mosquito nets, hygiene kits containing alcohol, masks and other sanitary products were also distributed to 370 displaced families in Barangays Pangabugan and Maon in Butuan City; 40 sacks of rice were delivered to 235 displaced families from the municipalities of General Luna, Bacuag, Claver and Tubod in Surigao del Norte; and 35 relief boxes were handed over to Mainit town.
