Sen. Bong Go attended the groundbreaking for the Super Health Center in Lupon, Davao Oriental on Saturday, 11 March, highlighting the government’s commitment to providing accessible healthcare services for all especially those residing in far-flung communities.
During the visit, Go emphasized the significance of bringing basic medical services closer to Filipinos in the countryside, particularly in poor and often neglected areas in order to ensure more inclusive development and productivity of the whole citizenry.
With the Super Health Center, residents of Lupon and its neighboring areas will no longer have to travel to hospitals often found in town centers and cities to receive medical attention if the same can be provided by the Super Health Center.
“Napansin ko noon, sa napakalayong lugar, walang access sa ospital yung mga buntis at manganganak na lang sa jeep at tricycle sa layo ng biyahe; nanganganak na lang po dyan sa tabi-tabi,” said Go.
“Kaya ngayon po magkakaroon na po ng Super Health Center sa kanilang komunidad. Para ito sa mga kababayan natin sa malalayong lugar, makakatulong po ito lalo na sa mga mahihirap,” he added.
Furthermore, Go highlighted the potential of Super Health Centers to serve as satellite vaccination sites for COVID-19 and other vaccination drives to be conducted.
With the availability of telemedicine services, health workers in remote areas can likewise easily consult with medical professionals to ensure proper treatments and effective administration of vaccines.
Super Health Centers are a comprehensive healthcare facility that offer a wide range of services, including database management, outpatient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray and ultrasound), pharmacy, and an ambulatory surgical unit.
