San Sebastian College posted a 17-25, 28-26, 14-25, 25-16, 15-9 win over Jose Rizal University in Season 98 National Collegiate Athletic Association women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the San Andres Sports Complex.
KJ Dionisio had a career-high 27 points as the Lady Stags finally got a win after sustaining six straight losses this season.
Lady Stags head coach Roger Gorayeb lauded Dionisio and Tina Marasigan, who scored 24 points, as he wants them to have some courage heading into their remaining games of the season.
“This is a good experience for them. This win should improve their confidence because I told them to never get discouraged in spiking the ball,” Gorayeb said.
“I think they learned their lesson. We would usually lose not because of the opponent but because of our own errors.”
Leading 12-9 in the final set, Marasigan’s kill block sealed a three-point swing for San Sebastian to end the match.
May Ruiz and Riza Rose both scored 21 points for JRU as the team picked up its seventh straight loss.
