Concern raised regarding expired vaccines’ disposal

Senator Francis Tolentino on Tuesday asked the Department of Health to find a way to properly dispose of the reported millions of expired doses of procured and donated Covid-19 vaccines in the country amid its potential risk to public health and safety.

During the resumption of the investigation of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee into the non-disclosure clause enshrined in the multibillion-peso worth of Covid-19 vaccine procurement deals of the previous administration, Tolentino raised the question of how the agency disposed of the expired vaccines.

“Any discussions on this? What do we do with these? What do we do with these because environmentally, these might not be safe… how do you dispose? Are you going to burn it, bury it on land, or throw it in the Pacific Ocean? How?” he asked.
