PBBM declares Ilocos town holidays

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has issued two proclamations declaring two special non-working days in two separate Ilocos Norte towns.

Marcos issued Proclamation 131 declaring 10 February as a special non-working day in Laoag City, the capital of Ilocos Norte province for the celebrations of the Pamulinawen Festival in commemoration of the city’s patron saint Saint William.

The celebration marks the conversion of the Ilocanos to Christianity.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Laoag be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the proclamation, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, read.

Also issued was Proclamation 132 declaring 28 February as a special non-working day in Sarrat town in Ilocos Norte to mark its founding anniversary.

The President’s father and namesake, the late former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was born in Sarrat.
