Entrapment ops net swindler
Recovered from the suspect were one cellphone Redmi 6 with two sim card numbers and a PhilHealth identification card under the name of Mark Raven Galoy Ursal
Authorities on Wednesday reported that a 21-year-old man was arrested for alleged swindling and attempted estafa in an entrapment operation along Kenneth Road in Taytay, Rizal on Monday afternoon.
Police identified the suspect as Mark Raven Ursal, a resident of Nagpayong, Barangay Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City following the complaints lodged by a certain Jonathan Zacarias.
The victim narrated that his phone was stolen in October 2022 and said that he was surprised that on 8 January 2023, a conversation appeared on his social media account from a certain Mrs. Magno.
Zacarias immediately called the individual to confirm the said conversation as he was confused on the statement of Mrs. Magno that the victim owes her P1,000. The victim then explained that his social media account was hacked.
On 20 January 2023, Zacarias went to Eastern District Anti-Cybercrime Team office to file a formal complaint.
On 23 January, operatives launched the entrapment operation which resulted to the arrest of the suspect.
Recovered from the suspect were one cellphone Redmi 6 with two sim card numbers, a PhilHealth identification card under the name of Mark Raven Galoy Ursal, a Smart Padala transaction slip, P2,000 boodle money, P500 boodle money, and P300 boodle money.
The suspect was brought to EDACT office for booking procedure, mug shot, and documentation prior inquest proceedings before the Office of the Prosecutor’s Office in Taytay.
