Galvez: Position doesn’t matter

Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said yesterday he has the greatest hope of making the Department of National Defense “seamless and stable” despite whatever designation he will hold onto.

Galvez made the remarks after a conflicting document dated 13 January signed by the president showed he was only appointed as senior undersecretary of the DND like his predecessor Jose Faustino Jr. and further clarified that they’re still in a transition process.

Galvez previously admitted to reporters that he was placed “in the same position” as Faustino but didn’t expound any further.

“Sa ngayon kasi, nasa transition pa tayo (Right now, we are still in a transition period) so in order For me not to be burdened by the Commission on Appointments, the OP (Office of the President) put it in a context that I will get the same position as Secretary Faustino,” Galvez said.

The position won’t really matter as he is willing to work for the betterment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the people he is serving.

“(It) doesn’t matter. What’s important is we put leadership on the DND so that it will be seamless and stable. The position or designation is not important to me. Ang importante andyan ako on top of DND (What’s important is I’m on top of the DND) and, as I’ve said, I will make the AFP and DND happy,” he said.

Galvez remains the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity while serving in the DND.
