DFA: Suspect in Filipina OFW’s death nabbed by Kuwaiti police

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait announced today, 25, January, the apprehension of the suspect in the death of Filipina OFW Jullebee Cabilis Ranara.

“Based on initial information from official sources, a suspect has been arrested and detained by Kuwaiti Police,” the Embassy said in a statement.

The Embassy said it is now obtaining official confirmation from Kuwaiti authorities on the details surrounding the death of Ranara that were reported in English and Arabic news media in Kuwait.

“The Embassy greatly appreciates the swift action and response of the Kuwaiti Police, especially in the apprehension of the suspected perpetrator, and in the investigation of Ms. Ranara’s death,” it added.

Ranara, 35, was found lifeless with a burnt body and smashed head in a desert area in Kuwait on Sunday.

According to an autopsy as reported by local media, she was pregnant.

The DNA samples from the victim matched those of the accused — the 17-year-old son of Ranara’s employer.

The English-language publication Arab Times said the suspect was arrested and has confessed to the crime.
