Converge hits port milestone

Fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is continuously expanding its network to provide more customers, especially in rural areas, with better connectivity services.

In a regulatory filing, the listed company disclosed that it reached its 2 million fiber port rollout target last year, which means it can meet the customers’ increasing demand for high-speed connectivity.

“Converge continues to expand its nationwide network reach to efficiently deliver consumer network demands and empower Filipinos across urban and rural areas.

With this record deployment of ports, we are ensuring high availability in more areas around the country,” Converge Co-Founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said.

Hitting goal crucial
“Achieving our fiber rollout target is very much important for us to ensure that our resources are utilized effectively and to also support the growth of our residential subscriber base,” Uy added.

As of end-2022, the company already deployed over two million fiber ports across the country. Particularly, it targets to boost network rollout in the Visayas, where it sees growth opportunities.

Citing the latest report to the National Telecommunications Commission, the company said it extended its fiber footprint to more than 613,000 kilometers.

The network consists of subsea, aerial and terrestrial fiber optic cable networks.

Converge aims to cover 55 percent of households in the country by 2023. As early as September 2022, the company already cornered 53 percent of the population, which means, according to Uy, that the company is “on track” to hit its target.

Last year, Converge earmarked around P21 to P23 billion in capital expenditures to support network buildup.
