‘Avatar’ sequel’s box office earnings hit $2-B

American director James Cameron’s sequel to the highest grossing movie ever is also drowning in cash after worldwide box office sales of the film reached the $2-billion mark this weekend.

Disney’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” also retained its number one spot for the sixth consecutive week since the movie’s release in December, CNN reported.

“Avatar,” Cameron’s 2009 extraterrestrial epic, remains the highest grossing movie of all time with a worldwide box office sales of $2,923 billion, according to Wikipedia.

The original movie tells about the human invasion of the Na’vi’s forest realm. The invasion was repelled but in the sequel, the same tribe face off again with the RDA invaders.

Cameron also directed a third movie that grossed about $2 billion worldwide, “Titanic” released in 1997.
