Aklan Super Health Center launched

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go recently led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Super Health Center in Kalibo, Aklan as he reiterated his commitment to help improve access to affordable healthcare services and better health facilities, especially in rural areas.

Four Super Health Centers in Western Visayas had their groundbreaking on the same day with Senator Go as guest together with respective local officials.

Go — who also chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography — expressed his hope that the establishment of more Super Health Centers across the country would enable the government to assist more underprivileged Filipinos.

Services offered in Super Health Centers include database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: X-ray and ultrasound), pharmacy and ambulatory surgical unit.

Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation center; and telemedicine, where remote diagnosis and treatment of patients will be done.

The lawmaker, who was instrumental in securing funding for the construction of Super Health Centers, has stated that the government intends to construct additional Super Health Centers this year after more than 300 of the said facilities were funded last year.

In Aklan, another Super Health Center in Ibajay was funded under the DoH’s 2022 budget. This year, more Super Health Centers will be established in Balete, Batan, Malay, New Washington, Numancia and Tangalan.

After the event, Go and his team held a relief operation at the Barangay Caano covered court where they gave away meals, food packs, masks, and vitamins to 217 indigent residents in the town. Select beneficiaries also received bicycles, shoes, computer tablets, and balls for basketball and volleyball.
