Covid cases dip to 1,891 last week

The Department of Health on Monday reported a total of 1,891 additional Covid-19 cases over the past week.

Based on its latest bulletin, the country logged an average of 270 daily infections from 16 to 22 January, which is 35 percent lower compared to the previous week.

The data also showed a total of 104 verified deaths, of which seven occurred in the last two weeks.

Of the 104 deaths, one occurred in December 2022, one in November 2022, eight in February 2022, seven in January 2022, 13 in October 2021, nine in September 2021, 12 in August 2021, seven in July 2021, seven in June 2021, and three in May 2021.

There were also a total of 12 deaths belatedly reported as late April 2021, four in March 2021, one in February 2021, three in January 2021, one in December 2020, one in October 2020, two in September 2020, two in August 2020, and one in May 2020.

The Health Department also recorded four additional severe and critical admissions which are 0.23 percent of the new Covid-19 admissions.

Over the past week, the agency reported a total of 432 severe and critical admissions.

It also said 370 out of 2,299 intensive care unit beds are currently occupied, while 3,509 out of 18,410 non-ICU beds are occupied.
