BuCor warns vs impostors

The BuCor said the entities and personalities are not connected with the agency and the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm

The Bureau of Corrections on Sunday warned the public against certain groups claiming to be connected with the bureau and solicit money for persons deprived of liberty, disclosed that the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City has been victimized by the scammers.

The agency revealed that letters supposedly signed by a certain Roloando R. Camogao — who claims as former PDL and founding chairperson of the “Rehab Society Association, NBP Reservation, Zamboanga Peninsula” — have been sent to public and private organizations to solicit money.

The BuCor said the entities and personalities are not connected with the agency and the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm.

“If you receive any similar communication, report immediately and notify the Bureau of Corrections and San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm,” said the BuCor.

It assured that it remains “dedicated to attain its twin mandates which are reformation and safekeeping of our PDLs.”

Also, the BuCor said during the confinement of PDLs, they were continuously taught of various skills and knowledge as preparation to their release as the SRPPF is making sure that all freed PDLs are ready to join the society upon their release.
