President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has called on Filipinos to be “renewed with a sense of solidarity” in celebrating the Chinese New Year.

In his message on Sunday, the President said he hopes that the Lunar New Year will give Filipinos, particularly the Filipino-Chinese community, a fresh start.

“I extend my warmest greetings to all as we usher in the Chinese New Year. With hope and excitement, we welcome a new dawn that symbolizes our boundless wishes for prosperity for ourselves and our society,” he said.

“Indeed, it is through celebrations such as this that we can recognize the ties that bind us together as a family, community and a nation.”

Bonds of kinship
Hoping for a better year, Marcos urged Filipinos to “delve into the cultural and historical richness of our society” and focus on the “bonds of our kinship and friendship.”

“Truly, I am glad to begin this fresh chapter with you all… in securing the good fortune, joy, and harmony that will be our guiding light in writing our shared history anew,” he said.

“May this auspicious day not only remind us of the blessings we have at hand but also inspire us to exercise deeper compassion for those who have less in life.”

Some 3,000 policemen were to be deployed to secure the activities related to the Chinese New Year celebration in Manila, according to the Manila Police District.
