NBI rescues minor from abusive father

Authorities on Thursday reported that a teener abused by her father was rescued by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation Anti-Human Trafficking Division in Quezon City.

The 41-year-old father was also arrested during the rescue operation, while the mother of the girl will also be held liable after she told her daughter not to report the abuse.

The operation stemmed from reports that the victim was abused at their home and according to NBI spokesperson Giselle Garcia Dumlao, the girl confirmed the allegations against her father and she actually sought for help.

The victim likewise has refused to go home for fear of her father as she was repeatedly abused.

Aside from the charges filed against the father, the NBI also charged the mother for child abuse because the victim has already informed her about the matter, but instead of reporting the matter to the authorities she scolded her not to tell anybody about the abuse.
