Marvin Gaye III faces jail time
Marvin Gaye III won’t be “getting it on.”
The adopted son of music icon Marvin Gaye has been arrested for domestic violence and assault charges, according to People magazine report.
Gaye III, 57, allegedly pointed a gun at his wife and a cousin in their home in Los Angeles after a disagreement over a prior assault. He fled the scene before authorities arrived, per TMZ.
He surrendered the day after and was detained for misdemeanor domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon.
Although he was released after posting a $50,000 bond, the police issued an emergency protective order directing Gaye to keep his distance from the LA home where the cops retrieved two firearms later on.
A report by Mirror.co.uk, meanwhile, said the family attorney, Gil Arbel, has “requested that the public respect the privacy of the family while officers investigate the incident.”
The family feels “distraught” and “(intends) to cooperate fully with law enforcement in pressing charges,” added the lawyer.
Gaye and his wife Anna Gordy adopted Gaye III from the latter’s niece Denise Gordy.
