Universal Records Philippines has tapped its new talent Korean actor Kim Won-shik to star as second male lead for its first-ever online mini-series Pag-ibig Na Kaya.

The show, aptly named after the famous song, will be headlined by Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz. It is written by JP Lopez and directed by Niq Ablao.

In press notes, Universal Records Philippines said Pag-ibig Na Kaya “is all about love… and its many forms.”

Won-shik is notable for his roles in the K-dramas True Beauty (2020) and Alchemy Of Souls (Season 1 2022). Pag-ibig Na Kaya is his first time to work with a Filipino production and Filipino actors.

“It’s a good experience for me. When I first read the script, I felt like it’s like a Korean drama because there are so many similarities. I even asked the writer if he is inspired by some K-dramas while making this. It was good,” he said.

Won-shik didn’t have any difficulty in speaking Filipino since he was based in the country for six and a half years. He considers filming the show a great contribution to his growth as an actor.

Pag-ibig Na Kaya will be launched on 3 February.
