Alex Eala ended 2022 on a high note as she reached a career-high No. 214 in the latest Women's Tennis Association rankings after a spectacular performance this year.

The 17-year-old netter jumped one rank higher in the final week of the rankings after starting 2022 at No. 526.

Eala won her second professional title in the W25 Chiang Rai in Thailand last April and even pocketed three bronze medals in the women's singles, team, and mixed doubles in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi last May.

Despite her loss in the W60 Madrid singles last June, it still boosted Eala's stock.

She would then go on and win the US Open junior girls trophy after beating Lucie Havlickova from the Czech Republic in the final last September to claim her third junior Grand Slam trophy.

Eala is now slated to participate in the 2023 Australian Open in January for her first women's Grand Slam tournament in the qualifying round.

Iga Swiatek of  Poland remains at No. 1 in the rankings at the end of 2022.

Filipino-Canadian Leylah Fernandez remained at No. 40 in the latest WTA rankings.
