Former ONE Heavyweight champion Brandon "The Truth" Vera announced his retirement after suffering a technical knockout loss to Iran's Amir Aliakbari in their ONE: 164 heavyweight clash at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Saturday evening.

In his 20-year mixed martial arts career, the Filipino-American heavyweight has a record of 16 wins and 10 losses in various MMA stints.

Vera won the ONE heavyweight title in 2015 after a knockout victory over Paul Cheng in ONE: Age of Domination.

He held the title for five years until Arjan Bhullar took the title from him in ONE: Dangal last year with a second round TKO.

In other bouts, Jhanlo Sangiao extended his unbeaten streak to five wins after an impressive rear-naked choke against compatriot Anacleto Lauron in the men's catchweight.

In the men's bantamweight, Drex Zamboanga landed a unanimous decision win over Adonis Sevilleno while Jeremy Pataciw secured a submission win over Tial Thang of Myanmar in the same weight division.

Meanwhile, Geje Eustaquio lost to Hu Yong of China in the men's flyweight via knock out.
