F2 Logistics exits on a winning note

F2 Logistics swept semifinals-bound Petro Gazz, 25-16, 25-22, 27-25, to end its campaign in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on a high note Tuesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Filipino-American Kalei Mau hammered six of the Cargo Movers' last eight points including the game-clinching hit as F2 Logistics finished its first stint in the import-laden tournament at fifth spot with a 4-4 win-loss record.

"A win is a win. We're already eliminated but we'll try to bring this win as we look forward to our participation next conference," Cargo Movers head coach Benson Bocboc said.

American Lindsay Stalzer poured 22 points built on 19 spikes, two kill blocks and a kill block to lead F2 Logistics. Stalzer added seven digs and six excellent receptions while Mau fired 19 attacks in her 20-point night.

The Cargo Movers mounted a fightback late in the third set, coming back from a 12-17 deficit with Mau and Elaine Kasilag capping a 9-3 rally to take a 21-20 lead.

Angels American import Lindsey Vander Weide tied it at 21 before Jonah Sabete scored on a block against Mau followed by an attack error by Stalzer for a 23-22 Petro Gazz advantage.

Mau answered with back-to-back hits to knot the set at 23 but Sabete pushed Petro Gazz at set point from an offspeed attack. Mau forced a deuce before Kim Dy scored a drop to put F2 Logistics at match point.

Cargo Movers setter Iris Tolenada committed a service error but Mau made sure of closing out the match with consecutive kills.

MJ Phillips and Vander Weide scored 11 each to pace the Angels, who closed the elims with a 5-3 card.

Petro Gazz will take on top seed Creamline in the round robin Final Four starting Thursday.
