The LRT-1 Cavite Extension is very much on track as structures to complete the rail line are fast taking shape, with operations expected to start in September 2024, according to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.

During his twin inspection at the rail line's Dr. Santos and Ninoy Aquino Stations today, 14 November 2022, Secretary Bautista said the LRT-1 Cavite Extension construction is on track, adding that the Department of Transportation made arrangements with the Light Rail Manila Corporation to ensure the rail line will be operational as scheduled.

"So far, we are [on track]. This is the reason why we are here—to make arrangements with the LRMC and their contractors so that this line will be operational as scheduled," Bautista said.

"We are expecting that this line will be operational by September of 2024. I'm impressed with the status of the project," he added.

Construction for the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Stations is ongoing, with the Dr. Santos, Ninoy Aquino, and Redemptorist Stations in Parañaque City having 48.03 percent, 34.06 percent, and 30.17 percent progress rates, respectively.

On the other hand, the Asia World and MIA Stations in Pasay City have 37.12 percent and 35.47 percent progress rates, respectively.

The 11.7-kilometer, eight-station LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project will connect Baclaran in Parañaque City to Bacoor, Cavite. The project is a joint venture of the DOTr, the Light Rail Transit Authority, and LRMC.

Once fully operational, the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project is expected to cut travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor, Cavite to just 25 minutes from the present 1 hour and 10 minutes, while increasing the rail line's capacity from 500,000 to 800,000 passengers daily.
