House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Monday said his office has so far gained some P49.2 million in cash pledges in its continuing relief drive for the benefit of the families affected by severe tropical storm "Paeng."

Following Romualdez's call for donations, Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City became a bustling hub for sorting and repacking relief goods since last weekend.

The Leyte solon said on top of the P49.2 million, his office also received pledges of assistance from the private sector.

Some of these items were already sent to typhoon victims in Cavite and Laguna, he said.

(Rest assured that we are doing everything to bring assistance to the storm victims)

The House chief also thanked House employees who volunteered to repack relief goods on Sunday evening after Paeng ravaged different parts of the country.
