130 families evacuate due to ‘Karding’

BAGUIO CITY — While super typhoon "Karding" did not directly hit the Cordillera Region, some 139 families in its four provinces sought refuge to safer grounds, according to the government's social welfare agency.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera also reported that there were no fully damaged houses, but it listed nine partially damaged houses.

In Abra, 47 families consisting of 156 individuals were affected by the temporary displacement as 27 families or 94 individuals went to the evacuation centers while 20 families or 62 individuals were either accommodated by their relatives or neighbors.

There are 36 families or around 98 individuals who also evacuated from their residences in the province of Benguet and at least 33 families or 91 individuals proceed to the evacuation centers while three families or seven individuals stayed outside evacuation centers.

In Kalinga, 39 families or 180 individuals evacuated from their houses and were accommodated by their relatives and neighbors.

There are also three families or eight individuals in Mountain Province who took refuge at the evacuation centers while 14 families or around 50 individuals went to their relatives and neighbors.

The DSWD is presently conducting full assessment of the situation.
