PLDT, Army name imports

PLDT will be parading a Russian reinforcement while United Auctioneers-Army will be bannered by a Canadian spiker when the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference opens on 8 October.

The High Speed Hitters tapped the services of Elena Savkina-Samoilenko as they shoot for a podium finish after settling for fourth-place in the previous Invitational Conference last month.

The International Volleyball Federation has a standing ban on Russian and Belarusian players from competing in major international competitions.

But Savkina-Samoilenko has been cleared to suit up for PLDT after securing special approval from the world-governing body in volleyball.

The 6-foot-4 Savkina-Samoilenko is an experienced spiker having seen action in Russia, France, and Turkey.

Her last international stint was with the Mersin B.Şehir Bld in Turkey.

The Lady Troopers, meanwhile, recruited Canadian Laura Condotta as reinforcement.

A 5-foot-11 open spiker, Condotta played for the Raiffeisen Volley Toggenburg in Switzerland and with the AEK Larnaca in Cyprus recently.

She also suited up for Canada in international beach volley tournaments.

So far, four imports have been named in the nine-team field after Cignal hired American open spiker Tai Bierria and Petro Gazz tapped American reinforcement Lindsey Vander Weide.
