Stronger ties between Vietnam, Phl upheld in 77th National Day reception

National Day of Vietnam is observed yearly on 2 September. It also marks the Independence Day of Vietnam.

Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte was guest of honor at the celebration of the 77th anniversary of the Independence Day of Vietnam held on 8 September at Conrad Manila.

The event was well-attended by envoys from various embassies in Manila, business leaders, and representatives from some government agencies.

His Excellency Vietnamese Ambassador to Manila Hoang Huy Chung reiterated their country's commitment to develop stronger cooperation with the Philippines.

VP Sara Duterte also spoke of strengthening ties with Vietnam, and shared personal anecdotes that revealed her warm friendship with some of Vietnam's officials.

Cultural performers came on stage to showcase Vietnam's colorful heritage and rich history.

According to National Today, a website that tracks "holidays and special moments on the cultural calendar," the National Day of Vietnam is observed yearly on 2 September. It also marks the Independence Day of Vietnam. It is a public holiday in the country with businesses and schools closed for the day.

"This day marks the independence of Vietnam from the French in 1945. National Day of Vietnam is marked by the Vietnamese by attending speeches, events, and carnivals that are organized in cities across the country. It is a day of much festivity and joy. On this day, the country also sees a surge of tourists wanting to see and take part in the festivities," shared National Today.
