Navotas builds more classrooms, opens vaccine cold room

Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco on Friday led the groundbreaking of additional public school buildings in the city and the blessing of the Navotas Vaccine Cold Room.

Navotas National High School (NNHS) and Daanghari Elem. School (DES) will soon have new four-story school buildings with eight classrooms.

Tangos Elem. School 1 (TES 1) will also have a four-story building with 12 classrooms.

"Nine more school buildings are up for construction this year. We hope for the timely completion of these projects so we could accommodate more students and avoid shifting classes," Tiangco said.

In March this year, Navotas inaugurated 11 public school buildings with a total of 128 classrooms.

Meanwhile, the cold room, located at the first floor of the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. Vocational Training Center at Brgy. North Bay Blvd. South Dagat-dagatan, stores COVID-19 vaccines and will soon stock routine vaccines for pediatric immunization.

It has bio-refrigerators, ultra-low temperature freezers that can reach -86℃, and single insulation transport coolers.

The refrigerator is used to safely keep vaccine diluents, while the freezers can store around 35,000 vials of sensitive and extremely cold temperature-dependent vaccines.
