Makati City Hall workers get bonus

Makati City Hall employees are being rewarded for their work with a performance-based bonus from the national government.

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said the city is the only local government unit in the National Capital Region that is being given the bonus for the exemplary work and dedication as civil servants of its employees.

"The performance-based bonus for city hall employees is well-deserved. This is a nod to our hardworking and dedicated public servants who have always put the interests of our constituents first. I am proud of what we have achieved, and I am confident that we will continue to do our best to serve the people of Makati," Binay said.

The announcement was released by the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Harmonization of National Government Performance Monitoring, Information and Reporting Systems.

A total of 366 LGUs nationwide are eligible to receive the PBB for fiscal year 2021.

More than the monetary value of the bonus, Binay said she is glad that Makati has been recognized as a model LGU in terms of good governance and public service.

"This is a strong validation of our efforts to promote clean, honest and efficient government. We will continue to uphold these values as we work toward making Makati an inclusive, livable and sustainable city for all," the mayor said.

The PBB is a top-up bonus given to employees based on their contribution to the achievement of the LGU's targets and commitments for the fiscal year.

It was introduced in 2012 to reward and encourage exemplary performance among public servants.

It is designed to encourage improved performance and better accountability. It also aims to promote accountable public service, and keep track of improvements and innovations in the delivery of public goods and services.
