Alex Eala enters US Open semis

Alex Eala made it to the semifinals of the US Open girls singles tournament, defeating doubles partner Mirra Andreeva of Russia, 6-4, 6-0, in the quarterfinal at Flushing Meadows in New York early 9 September (Manila time).

The match lasted 70 minutes, with the Filipio scholar of the Rafael Nadal Academy reaching her best feat in the tournament.

In the semis, Eala, the Women's Tennis Assoiation No. 297, faces Victoria Mboko of Canada on 10 September, 1 a.m. (Manila time).

In the doubles play however, Eala and Adreeva registered a walkover in the second round, allowing the German duo of Carolina Kuhl and Ella Seidel to advance in the quarterfinals.
