Marcial back in America

Marcial back in America

Fresh from stepping out of the plane, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Marcial immediately packed this gym bags and headed to the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.

The heavy-handed Marcial, who excels in toe-to-toe exchanges, asked around if there were warm bodies who could work with him.

Unfortunately, there was no one available at that time for the Filipino southpaw, who arrived in Los Angeles from Manila a couple of days ago.

Marcial, who has fought twice as a professional, is back in America and looking to secure a date for his third match in the punch-for-pay league.

Sean Gibbons, who heads MP Promotions, is targeting 8 October as a date for Marcial.

If Gibbons books him, Marcial will see action on the same night Jerwin Ancajas will attempt to win back a world crown at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Marcial formally entered the pro ranks in December 2020 in Los Angeles. He than fought a second time last April in Las Vegas but he had to pick himself up from the floor thrice to stop Isiah Hart.

Aside from the Tokyo bronze, Marcial also took the silver in the 2019 world championships, the gold in the 2009 World Junior and four Southeast Asian Games top finishes.
