CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The provincial government here announced that it is banning overloaded trucks to travel in the province.

According to Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda he held a meeting with Porac Mayor Jaime Capil and officials from the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corp., Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Transportation, Land Transportation Office, and the Highway Patrol Group to raise the issue on overloaded trucks.

The governor stressed that the provincial government is strictly implementing the Republic Act 8794 or the Anti-overloading Law of 2000, adding that the implementation is timely to preserve roads and thoroughfares, including highways of the province.

Pineda said that the main cause of road degradation is due to overloaded trucks, which causes heavy traffic and detrimental to the safety of his constituents and motorists.

To provide a middle ground, the quarry operators and truckers agreed to follow the parameters of the NLEX and the Provincial Government in terms of the allowed weight limit.

Pineda assured that those who don’t follow these guidelines will face hauling suspension.
