Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna expressed pride Sunday over the 97 out of 100 rating garnered by the Sta. Ana Hospital from the Department of Health (DoH) as a level-2 hospital, the capital city’s premier medical center headed by Dr. Grace Padilla.

Sta. Ana’s rating was among the highest, if not the highest, among hospitals managed by local government units in the national capital region. The facility is one of six district hospitals bankrolled by the city government.

Commending those behind the operations of the Sta. Ana Hospital for their dedication to duty, Lacuna urged them to continue their invaluable service to the community, especially the indigent residents of Manila.

She said the district hospitals in Manila must always provide the best services to match if not to surpass those provided by top-tier private hospitals.

Padilla said the recognition of the Sta. Ana Hospital was very humbling and that credit goes to all of its staffers and city officials led by Lacuna even when she was still the vice mayor of then-Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.

A doctor, Lacuna was time and again lauded by Domagoso for leading the health cluster of the city amid its fight against Covid-19.

The Integrated Hospital Operations Management Program of the DoH prescribes standards and guidelines aimed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of health care provided by hospitals.

Areas where the Sta. Ana Hospital turned in perfect scores were in governance, quality measurement, facility safety and emergency management.

The other scores per domain were as follows: Ethics and patients’ rights, 19 out of 20; patient safety, 19 of 20 and resource management, 14 of 15.
