Seaside luxe at Bluewater Resorts
Bluewater Maribago is a catalyst investment its own right at Mactan Island, Cebu.
As the pioneer property of Alenter Resort Hotels Corporation, Bluewater Maribago prides itself as a professionally-run upscale resort of world-class amenities yet with a distinctly Filipino flair of hospitality.
This four-star property opened in 1989 and grew to having more than 180 rooms equipped with a private veranda, air-conditioner, mini bar, cable television and cantilevered beds designed by Antipolo-based wood artist and furniture sculptor Benji Reyes.
There are four types of rooms: The Amuma Spa Suite, the Deluxe Room, the Premier Deluxe Room and the Royal Bungalow. Each range from 43 square meters to 53 square meters. Guests can enjoy their meals at the resort’s main restaurant, Allegro.
WiFi is available within the resort’s vicinity, free of charge. In January 2007, a full-service spa was added to the resort.
Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort opened in 2005 to meet a demand for destinations in Cebu. In 2011, Bluewater Resorts opened the doors of its first upscale resort venture in Panglao, Bohol.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bluewater Sumilon and Bluewater Panglao closed during the March 2021 lockdown. It reopened two months later. Bluewater Sumilon, however, closed for two weeks because of typhoon “Odette” as the Philippine Coast Guards did not allow boats to cross between islands.
In response to the pandemic, Bluewater launched BlueCARES Initiative, a holistic approach to keep guests, staff and community safe. It covers the development of processes, tools, enhanced-cleaning and safeguards to handle the “new normal.”
Bluewater Resorts is on the forefront of keeping the local industry alive with the inception of the Bluewater Academy, a learning institution that provides high quality technical and skill-based education for marginalized youths. Graduates are employed within the Bluewater Resorts chain as regular employees.
Bluewater Maribago is located approximately 25 minutes away from the Mactan International Airport. Shuttle services can be arranged at the resort.
