‘Cat-quick’ crystal peddlers cornered

Two cat-quick notorious drug dealers who have been tagged as elusive by authorities lived up to their billing, when they led arresting anti-narcotics cops to a wild chase by running through narrow alleys and roofs of dilapidated houses in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City yesterday morning.

This time, however, the police lived up to the challenge after they eventually arrested the suspects, Jonathan Layugan, 26, and Joseph Anastacio, 28, after more than 30-minute chase.

Recovered from the suspects were eight sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P13,600.

Investigation showed prior to their arrest, operatives of the drug enforcement unit of the Quezon City Police District Station 4, led by Senior Insp. Dennis Francisco, devised a plan on how to specifically collar them.

They initially assigned officers to conduct a stakeout in key areas of the compound where the suspects were reportedly plying their illegal trade.

The police finally arrested the two after a poseur-buyer managed to buy illegal drugs from them.
