Rain or Shine seeks a third straight victory when it battles Northport in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup tonight at the Mall of Asia Arena.

We have to be consistent in the future games

Game time is at 7 p.m. with the Elasto Painters eyeing to extend their streak to fortify their hold on the second spot midway through the All Filipino conference.

League leader Phoenix Pulse, meanwhile, stakes its unbeaten slate, against streaking NLEX in the first game at 4:30 pm.

Sporting an impressive 4-1 record, the wards of head coach Caloy Garcia will be trooping as the heavy favorites following a pair of big wins over top contenders San Miguel Beer, 108-98, and Alaska, 85-72 last week.

But Garcia doesn’t want linger on that hype, warning his Elasto Painters against being complacent against the dangerous and well-rested Batang Pier.

“We have to be consistent in the future games,” he said. “There’s a long way to go in the Philippine Cup and there’s no easy game this year because all teams have improved.”

Fortunately for Garcia, the Elasto Painters are having a great conference start as a team with their recent win over the Elite serving as a glaring proof in which all 13 players saw action and scored.

“The nice thing about it is, everybody is stepping up in our team. We’re in good shape and we’re playing well so we just have to maintain that,” he added.

Still, RoS will have its hands full against Northport which is anticipated with fresh legs coming off a 14-day layoff.

The Batang Pier last played on 25 January, dropping a close 100-110 loss to Columbian Dyip — their only loss in three outings.

The Elasto Painters-Batang Pier match up, however, will only serve as a background to the main act between top rookies and former San Beda teammates Javee Mocon and Robert Bolick.

Both freshmen are making good account of themselves with the third pick Robert Bolick averaging 14.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while the sixth pick Mocon norming 9.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

Backstopping them are Mav Ahanmisi, Gabe Norwood, Beau Belga and Raymond Almazan for Rain or Shine against Stanley Pringle, Mo Tautuaa, Sean Anthony and Jonathan Grey for Northport.
